
Gaura Parva is the alluring festival celebrated especially by the woman of the far-western part of Nepal and also, the middle-west part of Nepal. On this day, different Deuda song, Deuda dance, and puja rituals were performed in the name of Goddess Gauri, wife of Lord Shiva.
Goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva has many manifestations and aspects, Gauri is one of the aspects of Parvati and also regarded as the protector of women and the Goddess of harvest.
Depending on the astrologers of Nepal, every year the Gaura Parva falls in the month of Bhadra (according to the Lunar calendar) i.e the month between August and September. In order to spread the prosperity and well-being of a woman’s spouse and her family members.
Usually, this Parva lasts for three days, starting from the day of Krishna Janmasthami and ending the festival by worshipping Lord Shiva, Parvati, and Lord Ganesh.
On this day, pilgrims prepare the special grains called Biruda which is the mixture of five seeds of crops, used to worship goddesses during the festival. After performing the puja rituals, they return back to home and worship their husbands with Bermuda. Doing so brings them happiness and good health for her husband and family members.
The centric part of this festival is the Deuda dance performed in their own styles by holding each other’s hands, forming the circle, and revolving in the same place. The traditional deuda dance, along with the traditional deuda song is the next level of exploring the culture of Far-west Nepal.
It is not true, that Gaura Parva is celebrated only in the far-west part of Nepal, and only the women took part in it. Rather this festival is celebrated nation-wide and men also took part in it. On the occasion of Gaura Parva, far-west people living in Kathmandu organizes the special program on Tundhikhel, where they perform shows different types of Deuda forms.

How is Deuda Song?
Deuda song is a special genre of song, singing especially in the far-west part of Nepal. This song includes Thadi Bhaka, Rateri, Hudkeuli, and Dhamari. Deuda song is also the type of folk song. On the occasion of different festivals, people of the far-west region dive into the music of this song and perform different Deuda dance.
The locals to express their sorrows, joy, and feelings to the world, they used to sang Deuda song in their unique tone.
So, this is all about the Gaura Parva celebrated by the people of Far-west and some parts of the Middle-west. Also, people from far-west residing all over the world, also celebrate in their own region performing the same rituals.
