Nepal is one of the richest countries in Culture, tradition, and Natural resources and Bishu Parva is one of the cultures that is celebrated in the Far West of Nepal. On the occasion of Nepali New Year i.e. Baishakh 1st, this festival is celebrated in this region in the name of their family deity. The name of the festival Bishu is derived from the Nepali word, Bish (Poison). In order to kill down all the past activities, this Parva is celebrated by the people of far-west Nepal.
On the Bishu Parva, the locals of this region usually dress up with the typical traditional dress and wear beautiful ornaments, to catch up with the traditional performance such as Singing Deuda, Dancing forming the circle, and praying the gods following the rituals. Usually, people celebrate this festival for a week.
Similarly, the local erase all their mistakes and sins by splashing nettle leaf water in one another’s body. This type of tradition remains constant since their grandparents, so everyone takes this as part of festive enjoyment.
Also, they prepare the colorful stick and the dummy image of the Tiger and hover it around the villages. Doing so on this day, the locals believe that, the tiger would not attack and disturbs them a whole year. It is also the best time to spend a couple of minutes with family, friends, and relatives.
Among all villages, the locals of Goljhar Village of Darchula celebrate BIshu Parva in a more fashionable and entertaining way. They start the preparation for the Bishu Festival a month ago. After having the meal, people gather around the Devghar (House of God) and sing a deuda song or speak tales of Gods and Goddess.
Bishu Parva of Far west of Nepal is one of the rare festival, which needs more attraction and dedication of Government. This festival is more likely to the Tiji festival of Upper Mustang. If we are able to promote this Rare festival of Far-west Nepal along with its Natural Bio-diversity, we can almost attract the number of tourists in our country.
