If you want to taste, How typical tea of Nepal tastes like, you should not miss out to visit Kanyam of Ilam district. Kanyam is the popular place in Ilam where along with Tea different cash crops such as ginger, Potato, etc are cultivated. The total area available in Kanyam to cultivate tea is in around 240 hectares and 200 hectares of land is used to cultivate tea and remaining is used to cultivate different cash crops.

Yearly, Kanyam produces 125 kilograms of tea. The tea is then exported all over Nepal. Kanyam tea factory located at an altitude of 5500 ft prepares the Kanyam tea and export all over Nepal.
The sloppy lands where tea is cultivated and hills around looks an alluring from the viewpoint. Kanyam itself is the place of viewpoint through which we can view the range of Mt. Kanchenjunga.
If you are in Kanyam, you should not miss out horse riding as well, also do not skip your chance to view Jhapa, Darjeeling, Mirik(India), and Siliguri. Also, the places such as Fikkal, Pashupatinagar, and Antudanda is near from Kanyam.
When we visit Kanyam during 2016, we do not see any hotels and lodge to stay instead we need to travel more 5 Km and reach Fikkal and spend our night there.
