Khadga Jatra of Dolakha

Nepal is a country full of unique cultures, traditions, and religious beliefs.  Khadga Jatra is a kind of culture celebrated in the Dolakha district of Nepal.  This Jatra is usually celebrated in “Ekadashi (11th day of Bijaya Dashami)” that falls the next day of Dashain Tika and is celebrated by the Newar Community of Dolakha. The Jatra is celebrated by introducing the fight against God and evils (Demons).

Khadga Jatra

Since the ruling period of Jagat Jay Malla (i.e B.S. 1784), Khadga Jatra is celebrated in this region. The Jatra started from the Royal Temple Rajkuleshwor temple of Dolakha.

The locals priorly celebrate this Jatra hovering different temples such as Balkumari Temple, Bhimeshwor Temple, and Tripurasundari Temple of Dolakha. The key reason for the celebration of Khadga Jatra is the kind of winning ceremony, Gods take over the Demons. The Khadgi of this place usually sacrifices Buffalo calf. They treat these animals as the Demons to be ready to fight against God.
