Devghat, holy paradise in Chitwan

The prominent cultural and religious site of Nepal, Devghat is the true holy paradise of Hindu devotee’s spreading all over the world. The religious site Devghat is stationed in the bank of Kali Gandaki and Trishuli river. It is also the junction of two rivers, Kali Gandaki flowing from the Muktinath site and Trishuli flowing from the western Himalayas of Nepal. Thereafter people used to name the site as Harihar Kshetra.

Devghat is 7 km away from Narayangarh, 20 km away from Sauraha and 150 km away from Kathmandu. The true Hindu devotees occasionally visit the site, especially in the Nepalese festival Makar Sankranti. During this time period, this holy site gets around by the pilgrims from all over Nepal as well as pilgrims from different countries and the local used to place the stall of different things.

The rivers flowing through the Devghat site enriches the highest number of Shaligrams (this type of stone available in the riverside is treated as the incarnation of God Vishnu) and lingams (it represent the incarnation of God Shiva). Local people believe that taking a bath in the junction of the river, removes all the mistake he/she committed in their life, so pilgrims used to take a bath in this holy river.

Devghat Chitawan

Devghat is the central point of Nepal, where different gods and goddesses used to meet. Also, at this place, Sage Vasistha Muni used to perform Meditation and got his own Ashram. It is the same Ashram, once King Dashrath sends Lord Ram and his brother Laxman to spend their childhood in Gurukul. Vasistha Gufa which can be observed during your holy trip to Devghat, where sage Vasistha used to perform the meditation.  Lord Brahma and Lord Ram did the Yajna over here.

After a few km away from the Devghat, there is a place known as Gai ghat, where King Dilip of Ayodhya used to visit the cow regularly. Also, this is the junction of two rivers Seti and Trishuli.
